 Blessings for Families

When families face hardship in life, such as loss of job, insufficient income and failure in teaching children, it is the moment they badly need our HELP. Your Red Packet enables The Salvation Army to provide emergency food, employment support, parenting training, and neighbourhood support network for families in difficulties.

Ada’s son was assessed to have the problem of “development delay”. This child, who always lost in emotional control, drained the energy of this single parent. She became fatigued and desperate. The turning point happened when Ada’s son joined the tutorial class in the Salvation Army Kowloon City Corps (Church) every day after school. The tutors there believe that “all children are teachable”. With their love and patience, her son learnt to follow disciplines and control his emotions gradually.

Uncle Fu, at the age of 80, lives in an old building in Yau Ma Tei. He cannot walk much and rely on others to take care of his daily meals. The service teams of the Salvation Army deliver meals for Uncle Fu every day so that he can stay at home, enjoying his life joyfully.

A Bright Future

When young people encounter challenges and difficulties on their path, they may go astray. What they need most is our GUIDANCE. Your Red Packet helps the Salvation Army provide career counseling, job matching and internship programmes. Students of Salvation Army schools are provided with diversified education activities through which they can build up positive attitudes and development directions.

Carmen, a 17-year-old student of The Salvation Army William Booth Secondary School, left her hometown in the Mainland to Hong Kong for reunion with her mother. She once worried about adapting to the new environment and being rejected as a “Hongkongese”. But after joining the school student group for new immigrants, she is now enjoying her school life with the encouragement and support of classmates with similar background.

A Red Packet is a blessing. Both the giver and the receiver will be fully blessed.
