Christmas
is a festive season. Celebration activities are held among schools,
organisations and churches with sharing of gifts and food. Shopping malls
and markets are in festive mood and displayed with range of gifts
attracting the spending of consumers.
Behind the scene of abundance and prosperity, there are
still many families suffering from poverty. The Census and
Statistics Department reported that the poverty rate of the first half of
2010 has risen to 18.1%. The poverty population has reached beyond
1.26 million, in which the group of children and youth occupies 44%.
Number of low-income households is 0.47 million. Children grow up in
poor family always lack of resources for a comprehensive learning.
Even worse, financial pressure easily leads to unhealthy psychological
growth.
Be
an angel this Christmas to share love and care to the needy of our
communities.
