Underprivileged Children
Learning Table Etiquette with Joy
The Salvation Army Hong Kong and
Macau Command is honored to receive sponsorship from The Peninsula
Hotels to hold a New Year Celebration Party at The Peninsula this
afternoon (8th January 2011, Saturday). The Party has
gathered some underprivileged local and South Asian children to
share the joy of New Year. Auntie Mok (Mrs. Eleanor Morris) is also
invited to impart table etiquette.
The
purpose of the New Year Celebration Party is to let 55
underprivileged children, living in Tuen Mun, to share the warmth
and happiness of the New Year across cultures. Not just promoting
better understanding among cultures, the event also offers the needy
a chance to enjoy dining at The Peninsula, a heritage hotel. To
create an even stronger taste of the West, Auntie Mok, the famous
educator, presents to teach children table etiquette in order to
broaden their horizon and give them a genuine western dining
experience. Hopefully the children would be rewarded in such a
multicultural experience.
To add some Chinese elements into
the party, groups of kids are named as some traditional Chinese New
Year snacks, including melon seeds, sweet glutinous rice cake and
sweetened lotus seeds when taking part in the ice-breaking games.

Ms. Jean Forrest,
General Manager, Marketing of The Peninsula Hotels; Auntie Mok and
Lt. Colonel Samuel Pho, Officer Commanding of The Salvation Army
Hong Kong and Macau Command enjoy a New Year celebration meal with
the South Asian and local children from low income families in Tuen
Mun at the Peninsula
