The Salvation Army Responds to Indonesia Earthquake

The earthquakes measuring 7.6 and 6.6 on the Richter scale stuck Indonesia on 30th September 2009 (Wednesday) and 1st October 2009 (Thursday) respectively. The strong tremor left at least 770 deaths and 2,400 injuries. At the epicenter Padong, the capital of Sumatra, electricity supply and transportation are paralyzed, hundreds of thousands people were still buried under the rubble.

The Salvation Army The Indonesia Territory joins hands with the local government to carry out disaster emergency relief works. The survivors are in urgent needs of food, drink water, clothing and medical items. It is important to secure their basic needs and to prevent the outbreak of epidemic disease in the affected areas.

Lieut-Colonel Samuel Pho, Officer Commanding for The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command, would like to call for the supports and donations from Hong Kong people, which definitely can help The Salvation Army to provide apt relief support to the victims of the Indonesia Earthquake and help them tide over this catastrophe.
