To date, over 100 poverty alleviation and development projects have been implemented by The Salvation Army in deprived areas of China. The total number of beneficiaries has exceeded one million. In addition to resolving urgent needs of the locals, we are also working on bringing long-term benefits and effects to them. In doing so, we adhere to our tenet, that is by providing the people with the necessary guidance and support to empower them to develop by themselves and hence lead to an improvement in the quality of their lives.

Our projects cover the following five areas:

·   Basic Construction: water & electricity supply, sanitary toilets construction, etc

·   Education & Training: school (re)construction, equipping teaching materials/equipment, girls’ classes, basic literacy training, teacher training, etc…

·   Agriculture & Production: agricultural and vocational training, micro-credit, agricultural & husbandry production materials support, etc

·   Health Care & Sanitation: (re)construction of clinics and hospitals, providing medical equipment and medicine, training for medical personnel, community health education, etc

·   Community Integrated Development: a concept of poverty alleviation in rural areas. It advocates the local communty's direct participation in needs assessment, programing and implementing. Local community has the right of decision making, participating and project management.
